GERMAN WWII SS OFFICERS SWORD.

A very nice example of the early model SS officers sword, very good blade, non maker marked as is standard with these early swords. 84cm long blade with its white leather washer still fitted between the shoulders of the blade and the lowest part of the D shaped hilt, the leather washer is slightly fractured. Standard SS runic markings to the upper throat of the scabbard and on the lower section of D shaped hilt. Undamaged ebony grip. Some slight lifting to the plating of the D shaped hilt in the area at the grip. On undoing the upper button it reveals the tang protection cap, which is a standard fitting for these early swords. In its fitted scabbard with its original paint finish, good quality nickel plating to the upper and lower scabbard mounts with its hanging ring. A little known fact is that all German officers swords, when ordered by officers they were ordered in sizes relating to their own height, the collector who originally purchased this sword and others that we have purchased recently insisted on every sword being 100cm or longer, this example is 105cm.
