GERMAN WWII DLV HIGH RANKING SHOULDER BOARD.

The DLV uniform required the wearing of one shoulder board only to the right shoulder, this example in gold and silver bullion weave, stitch-in version. White underlay with some discoloration to the underlay itself. There is very little information available on the insignia of the DLV, the most informative is Brian Davies’ Uniforms & Insignia of the Luftwaffe Volume 1. He describes the construction of the DLV single shoulder boards, both of the two high ranking shoulder boards in gold and silver appear to have either one or two gold bars, this is the correct configuration in colour for the two higher ranks but no gold bar and no indication of a gold bar ever being fitted.
