GERMAN WWI PRUSSIAN PICKELHAUBE.

A small size all leather pickelhaube, which is a battlefield pick-up and is a strange configuration of all field grey fittings with a field painted Prussian front plate. The skull heavily crazed with the front and back peaks securely attached to the main body, also in matching crazing. The removable grey metal spike, spike base and rear and front trim all in matching patinated field grey finish where as the front plate utilised a standard brass plate, which has been olive drab painted. Complete with both its national and state cockades, its original chinstrap, which we have left in the exact position in which the helmet was brought home, tucked into the inner dome of the helmet. The 8 tongued liner still with good colour and its original drawstring. Stamped size ‘56’ faintly to the rear peak with faint traces of a manufacturers marking with an indistinct date, which we believe could be ‘1915’. A nice untouched battlefield pick-up piece reminiscent to many of the nice helmets in the Michael Baldwin collection.
