BRITISH WWI ROYAL NAVAL WHITE TOP VISOR CAP.

A very nice white top naval cap, all blue body with white removable top, the top is in the ribbed material. Some minor rust staining and discoloration but generally excellent. Fitted with a Chief Petty Officer red on black crown over anchor badge. Standard WWI period small chinstrap. This is an officers quality cap with white leather sweatband with the initials of the owner to the interior. The upper inner crown, the silk has shot but revealing the very nice circular stitching. Interestingly when the cap was constructed newspaper was used to fill the area between the exterior blue and the interior silk, which as stated has now shot. Royal Naval caps of WWI are difficult to obtain. Good size of approximately 56 or 57.
