GERMAN WWII ALLGEMEINE SS STURMFUHRER’S TUNIC.

A beautiful condition private purchase large size tunic worn by a Hauptamt Race and Resettlement Department Sturmfuhrer. The tunic is constructed in the very finely ribbed material known as Tricot. The insignia fitted is a shoulder board for the rank of Sturmfuhrer through to SS Obersturmbannfuhrer. To the left hand side of the collar as the tunic is viewed is a blank collar patch, machine applied with silver edging. To the right hand side of the collar is a collar patch with three rank stars indicating Sturmfuhrer. To the upper right hand sleeve as the tunic is viewed is the standard Allgemeine beautifully constructed armband, below is an officers quality lozenge shape Odal rune, which indicates a member of the staff of the Race & Resettlement, also utilised by agricultural experts. Below the Odal rune at the top of the barrel cuff is a high quality Race & Resettlement officers quality cuff band, which reads ‘R.u.S.Hauptamt’. The tunic is the correct configuration for Allgemeine tunics having a double skirted back, four pockets, open collar style. To the upper right breast are two loops for a short medal ribbon bar with two loops on the pocket pleat itself for another award. Literally hundreds of German WWII tunics were discovered in the 1960,s of all arms of services both political and military, many of them untouched. To the inner sleeve lining there is a small ink stamp for a costume rental company in Munich. In the 1960’s and 70’s a notable U.K. collector and author cleared a huge theatrical costume company in Munich by the name of Brauer, which coincides with the time span that the collector which we have mentioned above was in the early days of collecting.
