WWI AUSTRIAN AVAIATION & TRENCH GROUPING.
A 10 inch or 25cm x 7 inch or 17.5cm classic WWI style photograph album from an Austrian unit. The album itself contains only 17 images, all of large format, mainly comprising of an Austrian artillery unit in the field. Images of Austrian artillery men at their guns, groups of soldiers with the Schwarzlose machine guns, larger guns firing, mounted horse artillery. Within the album there are two images of artillery observation balloons being hoisted aloft with images of Austrian flying machines complete with their Schwarzlose machine guns. One superb shot of an Austrian aviator within the cockpit of his machine with his flying helmet laid to his side on the wing. Nine accompanying loose images of aviation interest showing German troops surrounding a crashed British or French machine with the bodies of the dead clearly in view. One of the cards has a handwritten annotation to the reverse side dated 'June 1916'. Other images with German troops surrounding a captured French or British machine. A further grouping of the images of German troops in the field with both M.16 helmets on, and field caps. A group of captured Hindu Commonwealth soldiers, a Sanke Berlin published postcard size images of Manfred Von Richthofen. A good grouping of trench and aviation related albums and images plus four large Austrian War Ministry official photographs showing Russian prisoners, naval forces at work, trench warfare all dated '1915' on the reverse sides. A good interesting grouping.
