GERMAN WWII BARN FIND SNOW COVERED HELMET.
A very rare helmet to find being the M.42 raw edge helmet in large size, which has been over painted in a whitewash, it can clearly be seen to the exterior the rust bleed that has come through but still has not interfered with the overall impression of a snow camouflaged helmet, the same whitewash has been applied to the lower inner skirt area. The helmet has obviously been laying in an exterior building for many years, the liner has lost virtually all of its tongues, and if not lost they have congealed, but the lower part of the liner is still intact. The chinstrap incredibly intact but frail. The lower inner bowl is full of surface rust. An original owner’s initials of OE hand painted to the inner rear skirt and much residue of barn life in existence in the areas between the edge of the liner band and the exterior shell itself. A rare helmet.
