GERMAN WWII SINGLE DECAL ARMY M.40 HELMET. BATTLE DAMAGED.
A nice Q64 manufactured M.40 shell that retains most of its original finish, the paint finish has disappeared from all three of the liner retaining rivet heads. Two indentations next to each other on the crown and a very large either shrapnel or glancing round indentation at the rear of the helmet. Other minor abrasions but generally good, with the Army decal, which has abrasions, which can be viewed on our web images. The decal has toned from its original silver to a gold but we do not think to be deep enough to be construed as an original issued Kriegsmarine helmet. The interior retaining its M.40 liner with all 8 tongues of the liner remaining, the colour has darkened to a dark tan, with its original drawstring. The strap is complete but is frail and has broken in the middle but both parts remain attached to the helmet. An original owner’s name H.Brein is hand painted into the inner rear skirt.
