A very clean example of the chassepot bayonet, its long curved blade in superb condition, dated 1874 on the flat back of the blade. Mismatched numbers between the scabbard and the hilt. All blueing to the scabbard present but with slight surface rust, which can be cleaned. Brass handle good with its rifle fixing button mechanism intact and working correctly.
