GERMAN WWII FIELD POLICE GORGET.

A really heavily worn field police gorget with a period repair. Invariably the field police gorgets turn up in either mint or near mint unused condition, this is one of the only examples we have ever had that has seen genuine service wear and has been service repaired. A lot of the colour from the silvered back plate is missing, some traces of the luminous paint to the buttons, eagle and lettering of the word ‘Feldgendarmerie’ still in place. To the backing the central uniform locating pin ‘Assmann’ marked, the green material backing well worn to the edges where it has been rubbing against the uniform. The chain itself is still affixed on one side to its original fitting lug but the longer lug has broken and the original field police official has drilled a hole through the gorget and attached it with a split pin. The chain is rusty. Ideal for fitting to a battle worn Feldgendarmerie mannequin.
