GERMAN WWII WAFFEN SS INFANTRY OFFICERS VISOR CAP.

A super rare cap being a well service used Waffen SS infantry officers visor cap. The cap is approximately size 59 or 60, high saddle shape that has been personalised by the original wearer. Officer quality ribbed grained material with its absolutely untouched Waffen SS eagle and skull. Standard black velvet centre band. Silver cap cords. Subdued pebbled side buttons. Some light areas of moth tracking to the nap to the crown, no actual moth holes. Slight stain to the white waffenfarbe on the rear overhang of the cap. The interior is all black rayon lined to the crown and brushed cotton black to the inner sides of the cap. The centre celluloid lozenge is in place with the retailer’s name of ‘Hans Petry, Oberstein’ with its original leather sweatband, which is unbroken, has evidence of use in the forehead area. The original foam cushion behind the forehead area and between the sweatband is all intact, it has not solidified or liquefied, the leather to sweatband is marked ‘Stirn Druck Frei’ followed by ‘DRGM’ and numbers.
