The large formal type for the German Cross in Gold, individually printed, quite often some of these have the name separately applied, this example has his name printed within the full text of the document as one off item, Oberleutnant Rolf Rocholl of Panzer Regiment 5, award date 25th March 1942 with ink signature of Field Marshall Wilhelm Keitel. Rocholl was a member of Panzer Regiment 5, 21st Panzer Division a member of the Afrika Korps measuring 23.5 x 35cm, an issue rubber stamp of the Commander of the Army to the lower left hand side. Folded once otherwise very good condition. Rocholl was born in Berlin 8th December 1918, killed in action 23rd August 1943 on the Eastern Front after beinbg hit in the chest by two rifle bullets during the Soviet breakthrough, his Knights Cross was awarded to him on the 28th July 1942 for leading the 2nd Company of Panzer Regiment 5 in their attack on a fortified British position on Hill 201 west of Acrona near Tobruk. The Oak Leaves was awarded on the 31st August 1943 as Commander of the 5th Panzer Regiment for the Eastern Front battle in which he was killed.
