GERMAN WWII ORDNUNGS POLIZEI ARTWORK.
A very rare book on the German Ordnungs Polizei of which we have only had 3 copies in over 35 years, this is a classic example of German printing from the 1930’s and 40’s measuring 27 x 33cm, the outer bound green canvas cover with the large Third Reich police insignia with central black swastika to the front cover, silver embossed. The binding is unusual for a book of such quality, the 13 beautifully illustrated colour plates accompanied by pages of text are placed within the cover, punch holed then held together with cord, 13 prints show every different aspect of uniforms within the German Ordnungs Polizei beginning with the carrying of the police standard and ending with the police officers standing together. The quality of the artistry and depth of colour is magnificent. All of the hand drawn images were produced by Herbert Knotel and he has signed all of his work ‘Knotel’. He was a well known military artist from 1893 to 1963. Between the colour plates there are extra plates with text describing the uniforms and the department of the service they represent. At the end of the book there is a full page section on the organisation of the Ordnungs Polizei sysgtem within Germany. A superb book for the police collector. Some minor staining to the cover and slight shredding to the police green canvas to the lower left hand side of the cover.
