GERMAN WWII GESTAPO IDENTIFICATION TAG.

A very rare identity disc for the Geheime Statspolizei. Individually numbered ‘3035’ with large eagle and swastika on the reverse side. The disc has pebbled type finish as if it has been discovered ground dug and cleaned, however all the detail is good and clear. All of the features of the disc match identically with the example shown in the excellent work Third Reich Warrant Discs by Don Bible, published in 2001 and acknowledged as the Bible of the warrant discs for authenticity. A common policy to follow in the identification of a Geheime Statspolizei warrant disc is to just view the first letter letter ‘S’ in Statspolizei, it always sits slightly lower than all of the other lettering. There is an example on page 24 of the warrant disc work which shows a Geheime Stattspolizei disc that has been recovered from the ground digging and this is in a similar condition to the piece offered here.
