GERMAN WWII KRIEGSMARINE PRIVATE PURCHASED OFFICERS SWORD.

The privately purchased option for the Kriegsmarine officer was to have the sword produced by WKC with double sided etched naval panels to the blade, with the battleships having a very small swastika within the flag to the top of the mast. This is the only way that the Kriegsmarine officers swords can be identified as Third Reich period, unless they are the ordnance issued examples with plain blades and Kriegsmarine Third Reich acceptance stamps. The blade on this sword is generally good, the gilding is light overall with the red and green eyes to the lion’s head of the hilt. Grip undamaged but with six strands of the wire to the eleven grooves missing. Both the clamshell and the rear guard fold, complete with its leather scabbard, all three scabbard mounts present, the stitching to the leather of the scabbard is excellent, one crease just below the middle mount, all the original rivets in place holding the mounts to the leather.
