GERMAN WWII FUHRERSTANDARTE.

The Fuhrer Standarte came in many different sizes, the purpose of the flag was for it to be flown whenever in the presence of the Fuhrer Adolf Hitler, if he was in residence at a particular building the large format of flag such as this was flown, if he was travelling in a craft of some sort smaller versions would be flown. This example has had some stitched repairs, which appear to be contemporary, there are no stains but there is some slight moth damage on the lower edge. It is a Kriegsmarine issued example and would have been flown from a major ship such as a battle ship or heavy cruiser on the occasion of an Adolf Hitler visit, it is Kriegsmarine marked to the canvas selvage edge, followed by ‘Fuhrer Standarte’ with the size of ‘2.40 x 2.40’, also with its flag maker’s silk woven label being a Company in Koln. An extremely rare artefact of the Third Reich.
