ENGLISH GEORGIAN NAVAL DIRK.
A very long example of the Georgian naval dirk, 52.5cm sharply curved blade, decorated with scrolling foliage and stand of arms. Traces of the gilt highlights within the etching. Blue decoration missing. The blade is generally good with some light discolouring. Fighting edge non abused. Copper gilding good to the back strap and recurved S shaped cross guard. Ivory grip also good with original chain, one crack in the grip, the detailed cross-hatching in the ivory is superb. Complete with its correct scabbard with its all original leather, the leather, in some places the outer skin has cracked but no actual weakness to the main ,leather body. Marked ‘Bond 45 Cornhill’ on the reverse side of the upper scabbard mount. Both hanging rings present. All three mounts firmly fitted to the scabbard. A nice example of a very long Georgian officers dirk.
