GERMAN/AUSTRIAN WWII TUNIC.
A highly interesting tunic originally issued to the Austrian army pre 1938, on the acquisition of Austria into the Third Reich the Austrian forces were absorbed. This tunic has never ever been altered, cleaned or played with in any way. Standard four pocket tunic, five button closure, the pocket flaps are deeply scalloped in the Austrian style all with individual pleats, dark green collar with Bevo woven collar patch fitted of a cavalry unit. The shoulder boards are of a senior NCO, deeply yellow piped, dark green centred, three rank pips with a full surround of silver tress. Matching silver tress to the collar with two Der Spiess pips to each lower sleeve. The silver lace overall to the tunic has oxidised. To the upper left breast is the early style of Bevo woven breast eagle, white on a darker green. Fitted to the upper left epaulette and second button is the shooting award with shield and crossed swords with one acorn attached. To the upper right hand breast is fitted the ribbon bar for the Entry into Czechoslovakia medal with Prague Castle Bar attached and one presumably a Austrian WW1 medal ribbon in gold and black. Snags to the cloth in various places especially in the lower sleeve, some minor moth damage. The upper inner part of the tunic is lined with multiple stitched padded lining. A very interesting tunic being a carry over from the Austrian forces into the forces of the Third Reich, worn by a high ranking NCO.
