A WWII Luftwaffe General’s promotion document. A highly attractive leather covered folder constructed by the legendary leather artisan Frieda Thiesch, who was the manufacturer of the Knights Cross series of documents, the artisan’s name is gold blocked to the inside lower edge of the folder, which measures 255 x 360mm with large Reich eagle to the face side. Some light scuffing to the corners, spine good and strong. Complete with its thin strip of Morocco leather holding the award document in place. The document describes the promotion of General Lieutenant Max Mohr to General Der Fieger on the 1st April 1941. At the base of the award the facsimile signature of Adolf Hitler and Hermann Goering. Slight age foxing to the edges, Reich eagle raise stamped to the left hand side of the Hitler facsimile signature. Max Mohr, German Army WWI from 1904 as an officer candidate, in October 1913 he was assigned to the Halberstadt Aviation School and was an aircraft pilot, in 1919-20 Mohr was Company Commander in the Gorlitz Freikorps, decommissioned 1st December 1929, March 1932 he was reactivated in the Army and at the same time promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, he transferred to the new Luftwaffe in July 35 and was further promoted to Major General at the end of 1939, he was an officer in the Reich Air Ministry, served at various training and technical departments of the Air Force and appointed Judge at the Luftwaffe Court and from August 40 to July 43 was Inspector of the Air Force Control Inspection and was retired in May 1944. An impressive looking document to a high ranking Luftwaffe officer.
