GERMAN THIRD REICH SS MOUNTAIN DIVISION PRINZ EUGEN CITATION PAIR.

An excellent pair of citations to an SS Obersturmfuhrer Franz Robl of SS Panzer Jager Abteilung 7 being the field type citation for the Iron Cross 2nd Class dated ’24.2.1944’ with unit rubber stamp visible. Pen signed by an SS Obersturmfuhrer and Unit Adjutant, unidentified, on behalf of the Commanding General of the Division Artur Phelps. Accompanying this rare citation is another field type citation which unfortunately is very faint awarding SS Obersturmfuhrer Franz Robl the Croat Order of the Crown of King Zwonomir III with swords, issued December 1943 with unit issue rubber stamp and identical signature from the officer who signed the Iron Cross 2nd class citation. During December 1943 to the end of January 1944 the Division was engaged in heavy fighting against Marshall Tito’s communist partisans as part of Operation Schneegestoeber.
