BRITISH WWII BOULTON & PAUL DEFIANT MAKER’S SIGN.

A rare enamel sign measuring 102cm in length, 22.5cm in width in blue enamel, white lettering showing makers Boulton & Paul Limited, Norwich. Boulton & Paul were the makers of the innovative fighter plane, The Defiant. The aircraft itself resembled the Hawker Hurricane but the huge difference was the addition of a motorised turret behind the pilot’s cockpit. It was not particularly successful during the Battle of Britain but carried on in service in various variants until the end of WWII.
