GERMAN WWI SAXON GUARD REITER OFFICERS HELMET.
One of the rarest of the Imperial German helmets being an officers helmet of the Saxon Guard Reiter. This helmet has been restored but retains all of its original integrity. The Guard Reiter style skull of the just pre WWI model, deep lobster tail back. Split repairs along the stepped peak and creases at the end of the rear lobster tail. The skull has no extra holes and is complete with its original clover leaf spike base, tall fluted spike, large Saxon Guard Reiter officers plate with cut out crown, correct domed chin scales, large national and Saxon State officers cockades, side clover leaves. The lining is totally original to the helmet with the shredded inner lining. The leather lining in excellent condition. The green leather behind the stepped peak has fragmented in places, the tan leather on the back peak again is original to the helmet and is secure and complete. The spike base and the front plate are secured to the helmet with all their original nuts and washers. This is basically a very good helmet it has just been left stored and has been cleaned, the skull is not damaged other than as is mentioned and also the skull has not been reshaped. This helmet complete with their Lion top can fetch as much as between '16,000-'20,000, this is without the officers lion and is priced according to its condition.
