GERMAN WWI GUARD DU CORPS TROOPERS BREAST AND BACK PLATE.
A very good condition and rare matched set of a trooper's breast and back plate for the Guard Du Corps, this is a profusely stamped piece. The front and back both match in size and have not been put together. All of the correct brass rivets are fitted to both parts. The overlaid white metal Guard Du Corps front plate is intact. It is stamped '1712 to 1912' indicating this is a post 1912 piece. The front plate is heavily stamped '11 18 GDC' with a maker's stamping of 'WITH JAEGER' with Imperial acceptance stamp. To the inside of the front is its original canvas lining, which is rubber ink stamped in two places '3E' indicating 3rd Squadron. The back plate is stamped 'GDC' Imperial acceptance stamp, same maker?s stamp, other unidentified numbers. The canvas, which matches the front canvas also ink stamped 'GDC'. The front scales are all intact, the leather has been replaced behind the scales as has the leather waist strap. A shot test indentation is to the front left hand side of the cuirass.
