THE UNIFORM REFERENCE BOOK OF THE GERMAN WHERMACHT HETTLER SUPPLEMENT

Published in 1939 this was the most comprehensive uniform reference book ever published of the German Armed Forces. This was reprinted in the 1960's and was for many years until the 1971 publication of Brian Davies's German Army Uniforms & Insignia,was the only work available for an in-depth study of German uniforms and insignia. During the war a supplement was produced of the Hettler work, the item we are offering here is the 1940 supplement to the 1938 publication only. It still has the front and back cover, although they are loose from the spine and have been protected with a maroon paper. There are four colour plates of which the edges are extremely frail. There are then 50 further pages of text relating to uniform regulations plus illustrations of uniforms and badges introduced from the time of the 1st 1938 edition up until and including this 1940 supplement. A frail condition but very rare item.
