GERMAN WWII TROPICAL AFRIKA KORPS RUCKSACK

An interesting variation on the typical Afrika Korps rucksack made from a mid weight olive brown canvas throughout. Most of the closures are the Lux type buckle and strap end, these are a lightly rusted metal, however good and strong. To the rear are the two Y strap mounting type brackets. There is a Gefreiter's name and unit marked to the reverse canvas reinforcing. Interestingly the central closure of the bag is in a recycled leather strap arrangement, this has clearly been carried out in the factory, there is no other signs of any other stitching and the stitch pattern is exactly the same as all other elements. This is somewhat interesting and indicates the use of recycled leather even upon Afrika Korps items.
