TURKISH WWI FIGHTING KNIFE.

A rare knife with fullered blade, flat back, sharpened edge and measuring 19cm. The overall length is around 32cm. These knives were never seen on the collectors market but one had always been on display in the Army museum in Istanbul. Then approx, 6 years ago, a small quantity appeared on the market with the story that they appeared in Afghanistan. How correct this is will never be known. However, we have owned three. One with a composition bone handle and two with wooden handles. The blade is excellent. There is slight sharpening to the fighting edge but there is no loss to the profile, steel S shaped guard with Turkish markings. Wooden grips and within the grip there are two tool implements. Excellent blued undamaged scabbard with its original brown leather frog. The stitching to the frog is good. The scabbard would appear to be of German quality. A good example is shown on page 265 of the work The military knife and bayonet? by Homer.M.Brett.
