WWII RUSSIAN M36 HELMET RARE VARIATION
A scarce variation on the M.36, which has clearly shown re-issuing. The helmet itself started out life probably with the very earliest liner system and has been upgraded during the war. This was relatively common as the recycling of equipment was paramount to support the Russian war effort. This helmet has sets of holes for two liner systems and the lower system is fitted in with small copper rivets. There is a very clear stamp to the reverse of the helmet in ink as well as stampings to the metal. At one time the helmet has received a secondary coat of a pea green paint, which for the most part has chipped and worn away revealing the darker under paint. There is a wonderful deep patination and light rust to areas of the outside. The lining is showing good hard combat use with grease and dirt build, however is intact and complete.
