BRITISH MACHINE GUN CORPS BATTALION PHOTO.

One of a recent excellent Machine Gun Corps related collection we purchased and this is one of the full length full battalion assembly photograph. The quality of the photo is absolutely superb and shows members of A & B Company, 3rd Battalion Machine Gun Corps, British Army of the Rhine June 1919. Many of the troops in the first three rows wear the cavalry type bandolier and breeches, however troops in the second and third rows are clearly seen wearing 08 waist belts, a mixture of stiff 02 caps and the later trench style cap with stitched peaks are evident. Some troops still wearing the 14 pattern belt. Many of the officers stiff retain cuff rank, however some have the shoulder rank. A mixture of puttees, riding boots and leather gaiters are evident amongst the elegant officers, many of whom sport Wound stripes. The item is approximately 1 metre long and approximately 40cm deep housed in an excellent quality modern frame, this frame is missing the glass.
