GERMAN WWII WAFFEN SS INFANTRY OFFICERS CAP.

This cap was purchased by us in the huge collection in June of this year from one of the most notable collectors in Great Britain, subsequently sold by us and repurchased in a trade deal for another more expensive item. This is a superb example of a depot issued Waffen SS infantry officers visor cap constructed in the ribbed style of material. All white piping for infantry to the upper and lower sections of the velvet centre band. White piped to the crown. One moth nip underneath the rear overhang and two very minor pinhole moth nips to the crown, the white waffenfarbe to the crown has two moth nibbles on the rear overhang. The black velvet centre band is typical of all the depot issued caps, there is always more of a sheen to the velvet than there is with the privately purchased items, also some of the velvet has moth tracking but no holes. Standard officers cap cords, matching set of SS eagle and skull, standard fibre peak, mid brown sweatband, large size 59 with plain grey interior lining. These caps were never fitted with a crown lozenge.
