GERMAN WWII ALLGEMEINE SS PRE RZM VISOR CAP.

A fabulous condition very large size early cap being the Allgemeine cap produced before the introduction of the RZM regulations, the cap could probably be dated anywhere between 1930 and 1933. Produced from the highest quality smooth black wool cloth with matching material to the centre band. White piped to the crown and the upper and lower sections of the centre band, fitted with its standard SS style chinstrap with central rectangular buckle. The peak is of the soft leather crushable type. Complete with its M.29 style eagle and jawless skull. To the interior the sweatband is of the ersatz variety, black brushed cotton lining to the complete interior. A very unusual feature is the central celluloid lozenge, which measures 6cm square, it is stitched to the brushed cotton lining but one end is left unstitched and has an M.29 gilded eagle and swastika printed on a small section of card with an oval gilded section below left blank for the owner to apply his name, this card is able to be pulled out through the open end of the lozenge. Some minor age cracking to the ersatz sweatband but no actual damage, one crease to the interior of the soft leather sweatband through storage otherwise the cap is completely free of moth and in the most superb shape.
