GERMAN WWI PRUSSIAN ALL TIN ERSATZ PICKELHAUBE.

We have recently purchased a small collection of six pieces of Imperial German headdress, the collector took great pains over many years to obtain the very best that he could and all six pieces are unbelievable examples. A superb condition small size, possibly 54 or 55 all tin pickelhaube to a Prussian infantryman. The tin pickelhaubes were mainly produced by toy manufacturers, this example having an absolutely perfect skull with all the bright black paint finish remaining to the skull, also the front and rear peaks. As is common to virtually every tin helmet we have ever had the point of the spike is slightly depressed. Dark patinated finish to the back strap. Slightly toned finish to the non removable spike and circular spike base with the spike base having imitation domed rivets. The Prussian front plate, these are always of a different gilded finish to the remainder of the helmet with it being much brighter. The helmet is with its original chinstrap and brass buckles, one slight nick to the leather of the chinstrap, with its correct State and national cockades. To the interior the mid tan 9 tongued liner all intact showing very minor wear use with all the felt inner lining to the crown intact and has not been attacked by moth, which is quite a common occurrence with these helmets. At the rear of the liner the two halves of the liner are held together by a male/female closing stud, on this example the male part has come adrift from the main body of the liner.
