GERMAN WWI WURTTEMBERG M.15 PICKELHAUBE.
We have recently purchased a small collection of six pieces of Imperial German headdress, the collector took great pains over many years to obtain the very best that he could and all six pieces are unbelievable examples. All leather pickelhaube of very large size 59, virtually unissued in a condition that is very close to being mint, untouched. The exterior large size skull without any crazing to the skull with a few minor scuff marks to the leather skin. All of the field grey patinated finish to the back strap, removable field grey spike and circular spike base, Wurttemberg front plate and front trim all untouched. Complete with its correct national and State cockades, again mint. The leather strap with the correct all field grey buckles. To the interior the helmet would appear to be straight off the production line with all of the light tan finish remaining to the interior skull, the interior of the front and back peaks with its original drawstring. The maker’s name of ‘Pfander of Stuttgart’ clearly ink stamped to the upper inner crown. The rear peak is profusely marked ‘G.R.123’ (Grenadier Regiment 123) with army corps markings of the ‘XIII’ (13th A.K.) with size stamping ‘59’. This has to be one of the best field grey helmet in existence.
