GERMAN WWII KRIEGSMARINE M.40 HELMET.

A very nice untouched barn or loft found Kriegsmarine M.40 combat helmet. The maker or the size cannot be read but on test the liner size appears to be 56 or 57. The complete outer shell is painted in battleship grey by hand, most of the original hand applied paint is intact with some minor abrasions as our web images show. To the interior the helmet is with its original M.40 liner and chinstrap, the chinstrap is clearly maker marked and heavily dated ‘1941’. The liner retains all of its original tongues, it is pliable and supple, slight surface rusting to the inner shell. This helmet was obviously brought back at the end of WWII and was discovered recently within a large country house along with three Third Reich daggers, the whole group was offered to one of the prominent London auction houses who do not offer Third Reich items for sale publicly and the grouping was offered to Regimentals. The three daggers were of a similar condition to this helmet.
