GERMAN WWI MAUSER 98/05 BAYONET.
An exceptionally good example of the Mauser 98/05 bayonet. Good blued blade, heavy stampings ‘Waffenfabrik Mauser A.G.Oberndorf a.N’. Numbered ‘929’. Imperial acceptance stamping in two places on the flat back portion of the blade. Very nice stampings on the reverse side of the scabbard identical to the markings on the blade. Just below the base of the frog there is what appears to be shrapnel damage to the body of the scabbard, the scabbard retaining much original blued finish. The leather frog all intact with some slight stitching loose. Faintly maker marked and dated, the last digit of the date cannot be seen clearly. Complete with its red and white company knot. The upper pommel of the grip Imperial acceptance stamped. Wood ribbed grips excellent. Rifle retaining button complete and functioning correctly.
