GERMAN WWII LUFTWAFFE HERMANN GOERING FELDGENDARMERIE VISOR CAP.

We have never owned one of these caps before, Luftwaffe blue high officer quality construction cap with orange piping to the full circumference of the crown, the upper and lower sections of the central mohair band, the peak is the double edge variety commonly encountered with Luftwaffe caps, high saddle shape. One moth nip to the crown, one other further moth nip to the lower edge of the cap. Although not size stamped we estimate this to be size 56. Grey leather sweatband, which does have evidence of wear use. Blue silk lining with a near complete centre celluloid lozenge with the bright silver blocked labelling of the Company ‘Otto Schlientz Uniform Mutzen Straubing’, to the centre of the name is a side profile of a Third Reich saddle shape visor cap. Standard NCO’s double rectangular buckled chinstrap, black side buttons. This is for the very small unit of Feldgendarmerie within the Hermann Goering Division Panzer Korps. On very close inspection of the lozenge in the upper inner crown it can be observed that there is a small abrasion at the point of the saddle shaped visor cap, which would have had a silver blocked outline of the Third Reich eagle and swastika, that has been erased, which in turn gives evidence to the fact that at the end of WWII the Luftwaffe eagle was removed from the cap and has since been replaced, it is slightly of a different shade than the very bright single stamped metallic national cockade below. We feel that due to the rarity of this cap it is acceptable within a collection to have the Luftwaffe eagle replaced. In our history we have never had a Luftwaffe cap as rare as this one, either officers or enlisted ranks/NCOs.
