GERMAN WWII WAFFEN SS CAMOUFLAGE REVERSIBLE COMBAT SMOCK.

A good clean undamaged example of the reversible camouflage smock in oak leaf pattern worn by Waffen SS troops. The smock is the 2nd pattern with added loops for foliage, twin lower pockets, reversible from spring to autumn with the interior pockets being in heavy duty green herringbone twill. The original closure cord is missing and the elastic for the waist and the cuffs all intact. The smock has many features of original SS camouflage construction items of WWII, which we have encountered many times, the fact that odd scraps of different pattern camouflage materials were used in the construction for garments. The main body of this garment is in the recognised colouration, both the green and the autumn reverse side of the commonly encountered colour, the centre section of the sleeves also in oak leaf but in a different shade, the pocket flaps also in a different shade and including the neck trim and the trim of the closure flap. All of the original extra foliage loops are intact, interestingly there is running from top to bottom of the garment both on the front and back is a long series of stitch marks as if something has been stitched to the garment at sometime during its life. There is also extra stitching marks around the lower cuffs and a multitude of extra stitches around the shoulders, we have absolutely no idea whether this was a wartime adaptation by the individual soldier or a post war adaptation by a hunter of some sorts. The extra stitching does not spoil the image of the garment, without doubt a totally original 2nd pattern SS camouflage combat smock.
