GERMAN WWII SS VERFUNGENSTRUPPE STEEL HELMET.

An ultra rare helmet of the Third Reich period being the M.18 style of helmet reproduced in the middle 1930’s for the Allgemeine SS and subsequently the SS Verfungenstruppe, the Allgemeine had black helmets, mainly plain with RZM stampings inside, the Verfungenstruppe had these early apple green helmets, although on the M.16/18 style are distinctively different to the knowledgeable collector. Excellent paint finish to this example, stress markings to the steel along the visor. To the interior the three pad M.16 style type of inner lining showing hardly any wear use with its chinstrap, which is riveted to both clips. The central strap is the adjustable type but not removable. The inner liner band stamped number ‘16’ also stamped ‘Bath and Wagawa Metellwarenfabrik Dresden B16’ with its phone number ‘Fernruf 65282’. To the interior of one of the liner pads the classic ‘SS/VA 1934’ rubber ink stamping. To one other of the side pads is a name label ‘M.Koch’ with the designation ‘SS/D’ (we presume Deutschland). The inner forehead pad is unmarked. The matching number ‘16’ in a florescent type ink that is stamped on the inner liner band is also stamped to the upper inner crown.
