GERMAN WWI BADEN 109TH ENLISTED MANS HELMET.

One of the most difficult of any enlisted ranks helmet to acquire of WWI being of the Baden Regiment 109. The helmet is dated ‘1911’, size ‘56’. Good skull with slight creasing, both peaks securely attached to the main body of the helmet. Two kinks to the silk front peak trim. All of the fittings, which includes the back strap, unscrewable spike, circular spike base, large Baden front plate with its overlay plate for the 109th, all strap fittings match in white metal. Standard leather strap, complete with its national and Hessian State cockade. To the interior the 9 tongued liner all intact, leather supple, no damage to the tips of the tongues. Clearly stamped into the rear peak ‘R109’ date of ‘1911’, next to the original owner’s name a religious cross with the numbers ‘109’ followed by what appears to be a date indicating that somebody has commemorated the death of the helmet wearer.
