GERMAN WWI SEE BATTALION OBERLEUTNANT’S TUNIC.
A most magnificent and extremely rare tunic of the German WWI forces being an officers tunic of the See Battalions (equivalent to Marines). The tunic in ribbed cloth field grey, minor moth nip to the lower left hand corner of the front skirt, three moth holes to the central back panel and minor peppering to the right hand side of the Prussian style rear skirt, but generally in superb condition. The shoulder boards are of the black and red fleck within silver lace, white underlay, large Imperial Naval style square edged crown to each board with one rank pip for the rank of Oberleutnant. The white collar patches laid onto the apple green collar, which is white piped itself being a mixture of twisted cord embroidery to the centre and heavy silver bullion surrounding all based on white. The collar lace matches the cuff lace. All the buttons are of the correct pattern, none are missing or have been replacement. Standard model 1910 configuration with two lower pockets without buttons. To the rear skirt it would appear that two buttons have been replaced, they are of the standard Prussian curved edge crown style. Fitted to the tunic is a Wound Badge in silver, one-piece stamped. To the interior pocket large tailor’s label with what appears to be ‘1.See B’ (1st See Battalion) dated ’19.9.14’.
