GERMAN WWI PRUSSIAN ENLISTED MANS PICKELHAUBE WITH ORIGINAL FIELD COVER.
A very nice condition untouched example of an all leather enlisted ranks pickelhaube, the rear marked ‘J.R.16’ (Prussian Infantry Regiment 16), the skull stamped size ‘55½’. Minor creasing to the rear peak, three kinks to the interior of the front peak trim, all other fittings matching in subdued brass. Original chinstrap fitted. Correct national and State cockades. Untouched 8 tongued liner, the eye at the tip of one tongue has split. The helmet is with its original drawstring. The leather prongs than normally hold the front plate to the helmet has been replaced by what appears to be two British badge application pins. The helmet is accompanied by its undoubtedly original helmet cover of the enlisted ranks style with its five retaining hooks, two would appear to have been replaced by a previous collector. The cover is in excellent condition and fits helmet perfectly.
