GERMAN WWII SOLDIER’S MULTI TOOLED UTILITY KNIFE.

Sometimes referred to as the knife for the MG34, this is a rare piece of equipment but is a general soldiers utility/fighting knife. The blade is in the Bowie style, it has seen some corrosion and been cleaned. Faint traces of markings to the flat upper section of the blade, oval steel cross guard, wooden grips, which do have some distressing. The grip is complete with its short utility blade, can and bottle opener, corkscrew and spike. Two rivets to the grip. Complete in its original pressed steel scabbard which has lost any finish and also complete with its correct sprung loaded belt loop. These knives come in wood gripped or Bakelite grip versions, the only examples we are aware of that have been photographed and placed in a book is the example shown on page 338 of Uniforms & Traditions of the German Army 1933-45 by John R. Angolia and Adolf Schlicht Volume 3. Recently purchased from probably the best combat uniform and equipment collection in the United Kingdom comprising Army tropical, Waffen SS, Luftwaffe paratrooper and many other items of the same genre. The collection was begun by the then 15 year old boy who used to visit our own shop in London in the very early 1980’s and has built this collection up over 40 years culminating in the writing of excellent books on these subjects.
