GERMAN PRUSSIAN 1ST OR 2ND GUARD DRAGOON ENLISTED RANKS PICKELHAUBE.

An extremely rare all leather pickelhaube being a pre WWI constructed helmet, leather skull excellent, all of the fittings, which include the back strap, large cruciform spike base, unscrewable spike, large Guard front plate, removable clip over chin scales, which are domed, square cut front peak with peak trim, matching exactly. The Guard Star to the front retains much of its original silvering having a slight indentation to the lower point of the star, all the leather backing to the chinstraps complete. The helmet is with both its national and Prussian State cockades. To the interior its 9 tongued leather liner all intact and undamaged, supple with its original leather drawstring. Faint traces of a manufacturer’s ink stamp within a rectangular block close to the inner crown but indecipherable. The marking ‘L.G.15’ stamped into the area just behind the leather liner to the forehead, this could possibly be company markings. Ink stamped size ‘56’ to the inner rear peak.
