GERMAN WWII GROSSDEUTSCHLAND OFFICERS SHOULDER BOARDS.

A very nice set of extremely heavily worn pink wool underlay shoulder boards for a Grossdeutschland Oberleutnant. The shoulder boards are the stitch-on style, extra black underlay has been added to the shoulder boards, gilt is missing from both the ‘GD’ motifs and the rank pips, oxidisation to the outer board themselves and typically the very tips of the shoulder board the material has worn through, which we have experienced many times before with shoulder boards removed from heavily worn tunics. Recently purchased from probably the best combat uniform and equipment collection in the United Kingdom comprising Army tropical, Waffen SS, Luftwaffe paratrooper and many other items of the same genre. The collection was begun by the then 15 year old boy who used to visit our own shop in London in the very early 1980’s and has built this collection up over 40 years culminating in the writing of excellent books on these subjects.
