GERMAN WWI SAXON COBURG GOTHA RESERVE OFFICERS PICKELHAUBE.
A very difficult to obtain officers leather pickelhaube of the 95th Infantry Regiment. The 6th Thuringian and 153rd the 8th Thuringian Regiments wore this configuration of helmet plate and Saxon Coat of Arms to the centre of the plate. The standard Prussian helmet plate without motto, this is standard for a reserve officer, the overlay plate excellent condition in nickel with its correct Reserve Officers Cross below with the wording ‘Fur Furst & Vaterland’. Excellent gilt to the front plate, the gilt to the remaining fittings slightly tarnished but all complete. Standard correct flat chin scales, removable spike. The helmet has its correct national and green, white, green Saxon Coburg Gotha cockade to the left. Some distortion to the shape of the rear peak. Minor congealing to the front peak. The main skull good, excellent colour to the interior. Size ‘56’ marked in pencil. The leather sweatband in a good colour showing signs of wear use, with its inner cream silk liner.
