GERMAN WWII ALLGEMEINE SS ENLISTED MANS/NCO VISOR CAP.

A good size 57½ Allgemeine SS enlisted mans/NCO’s visor cap. No moth damage anywhere to the cap, the classic construction in the black thinly ribbed material, white waffenfarbe to the upper crown, to the lower and upper sections of the matching material centre band. Standard black leather strap found on SS caps with the central rectangular joint with two rectangular buckles either side. Black side buttons. To the interior the cap is marked with the rubber ink SS stamp underneath the orange brown fibre visor. The mid tan leather sweatband all intact and supple with obvious wear use in the forehead area and with the owner’s initials ‘F H’ attached in metallic form to the sweatband. The upper inner crown area with the waterproof russet brown material. The centre celluloid lozenge all untouched with its gold blocked SS runic symbol beneath the lozenge with its RZM Tuchmutze label protected underneath the leather sweatband. To the opposite side from the position of the label to the inner sweatband are the ink stamps ‘CN/38’, faint traces of where the original orange cushion would have been situated behind the perforated forehead area, this has since solidified and broken away. As the interior sweatband is folded down black marks can be seen to the light tan leather where they have been situated against the pins of the black side buttons since the cap was manufactured. To the very front of the cap to the right hand side of the skull there is what could possibly be a drop of chemical substance has been dropped upon the cap. The insignia fitted comprises the SS eagle is a Fritz Zimmermann RZM 1/72 type eagle where the skull is a Deschler RZM M1/52 skull. This hat last sold by us in 2012.
