GERMAN WWI BAVARIAN ENLISTED MANS FIELD GREY HELMET.

A nice untouched all leather Bavarian enlisted mans helmet of good proportions, stamped size ‘55’ to the upper inner bowl. The exterior leather shell in excellent condition, slight abrasions to the Shellac of the finish, the front and back peaks securely sewn to the main body. All of the patinated finish to the back strap, removable spike, circular spike base, Bavarian front plate and front trim, which is completely devoid of any kinks to the front trim. Matching patinated finish buckles to the brown leather chinstrap. The helmet is with its national and Bavarian State cockades. The interior has superb original light tan colour with the 9 tongued liner all in place, very supple with faint pencil markings of an owner’s name and hand applied size again to the interior bowl with a circular maker’s stamp to the inner rear bowl of the helmet. Hard to find a better field grey.
