GERMAN WWI BAVARIAN ERSATZ FELT ENLISTED MANS PICKELHAUBE.

An unusually large size for the WWI enlisted mans helmet. Good solid steamed felt shell with its front and back peaks all part of the original pressing. All of the trim, which includes the back strap, non removable spike, circular spike base, Bavarian front plate and front trim, strap buckles all match in colour and condition. The helmet is complete with its national black, white and red cockade, which is possibly an original replacement. The helmet is also with its Bavarian field cockade, which is of a condition more in keeping with the overall condition of the helmet. Correct leather strap and buckles. Front peak trim having very minor kinks to the interior. The liner is complete and undamaged in brown pigskin. The attachment wedges for the front plate are unusually themselves in thick felt, this we have very rarely encountered.
