GERMAN WWI PRUSSIAN BATTLE DAMAGED OLDENBURG REGIMENT PICKELHAUBE.

A rare all leather pickelhaube for an enlisted man in Infantry Regiment 91 Oldenburg. A good leather skull, all brass fittings, complete with its Prussian front plate with Oldenburg overlay plate, original chinstrap and side cockades. A rifle round has pierced the lower part of the non removable spike with entry and exit round at the same trajectory. This is an early pickelhaube, faint remains of an original date of ‘1888’, further issue date of ‘1894’ clearly marked to ‘O J R.91 2B’ and then within a rectangle ‘6C’ (6th Company). The helmet retains every one of its 9 section liner tongue. A superb helmet.
