GERMAN WWII LUFTWAFFE GENERAL’S VISOR CAP.

A lovely condition, approximately size 56 Luftwaffe General’s visor cap constructed in the classic Luftwaffe ribbed material. One moth hole to the crown, some minor snags to the mohair centre band, generally at the rear of the cap. All of the insignia, which includes the waffenfarbe, the eagle, cockade and double corded strap all in the gold cellion weave for a General. Standard Generals pebbled Gold side buttons. The front peak is of the form without the double edged ribbing. To the interior the sweatband all intact and undamaged, soft and supple with evidence of wear use. On pulling down the sweatband at the forehead area behind is the orange cushion, which has solidified with certain elements of the foam breaking away. The upper inner lining in a light gold with a full undamaged centre celluloid lozenge, which has the logo of a retailer of a lion’s head with the maker’s name of ‘D.Ofterwolder Uniform & Effects of Lunerburg’. Great care has to be taken when inspecting behind the forehead area to avoid further breakage of the now solidified foam forehead cushion. A superb cap.
