GERMAN WWII ALLGEMEINE SS ENLISTED MAN/NCO VISOR CAP.

An excellent condition size 56 Allgemeine SS enlisted man/NCO visor cap. Very good shape, half way between teller form and saddle shape, constructed in the classic black ribbed material, which is the most commonly found in the construction of Allgemeine caps, there are instances of a softer Melton type material but the ribbed is the most commonly encountered. The cap is complete with its white waffenfarbe to the upper and lower sections of the centre band, white waffenfarbe around the crown with its correct central rectangular buckle to the chinstrap. Generally we can pull the strap away from the main body of the cap to check whether the interior of the strap is SS marked as they quite often are, however this strap is so tight to the cap we dare not pull it away because of the risk of damaging the strap. The cap has its untouched insignia, which has lost some of its silvering. Standard domed black side buttons. The cap is totally free of any moth damage. To the interior of the peak is the standard rubber ink stamp ‘RZM’ with twin SS runes. The upper inner in the waterproof russet brown ribbed material with a complete and undamaged centre celluloid lozenge, which has good clear proud gold circlet with the SS runes left blank in the russet brown, gilded size ‘56’ above, with its original mid tan leather sweatband, which has minor evidence of wear use having one slight crease to the skin of the leather to the left hand side of the peak. The interior of the sweatband is marked ‘HB39’ with ‘3X’ to the interior on the opposite side of the band, with its complete black and white RZM issue ticket with the ‘Hersteller’ (maker) ‘4’ with the RZM number ‘177220’ stamped into the white window. A very good example of the Allgemeine cap.
